Research and development of innovative solutions for the collection, representation and processing of heterogeneous human health data and information in order to achieve better personalized, predictive and preventive health care and to optimize treatment procedures. The activity includes specializations focused on synthetic biology, modeling of heterogeneous materials and biomechanical structures, biological data processing and decision support systems in clinical practice.
- The computer vision group is engaged in the processing of image and video data for the detection, recognition, tracking, and identification of animals in the field of biodiversity and species migration. It also deals with the analysis of medical images and biological signals.
- The Data Science group focuses on the relevance, analysis, and synthesis of clinical research data, developing methods for decision support, and designing specific information systems for decision-making in clinical practice.
- The biomedical informatics group develops methods for processing and organizing large heterogeneous biological data and related metadata, such as EEG/ERP recordings, audio/video recordings from clinical phoniatrics, CT and MRI images.
- The biomechanics group focuses on creating complex computer models and simulations of tissue and organ perfusion in the context of whole-body physiology with the aim of improving the selection of specific treatments.
- The synthetic biology laboratory focuses on engineering methods for rapid prototyping and validation of biotechnologies with applications in medicine.
