The term Open Data has been in the focus not only of the European Union, but also of a number of organizations, public authorities and individuals in the past years; they have been using open data for various purposes – from open applications used by the public for free to commercial projects.
The geomatics research team has been researching use of open (freely available) data, namely in the fields of regional and urban planning, transport, tourism, agriculture and health care in the long term. In particular, the research team is involved in solving technical and semantic problems. Examples include integration and harmonization of multi-source data, data normalization and standardization, data visualisation and interpretation, combination of spatial and non-spatial data (applying the LinkedData concept), and data enriching by their semantics.
Aktuálně tým řeší projekt TAČR TB0500MV003 Vypracování certifikované metodiky pro publikování prostorových informací ve formě otevřených dat. Cílem projektu je analýza současného stavu publikování prostorových dat a informací ve formě otevřených dat a návrh metodiky, která bude sloužit jako základní nástroj pro otevírání prostorových dat státní správy a samosprávy v České republice.
